Dolphin Skips

Frequently Asked Questions

We serve customers in Brisbane and on the Sunshine Coast and the surrounding areas.

We recommend booking the skip bin 24 hours in advance. But if you book before 9 in the morning, you may get your bin within the same day (depends on skip bin availability).

Our skip bins are available in different sizes to fit the needs of different customers. We have 3m3, 4m3, and 6m3 for those small to midsize projects. If you’re discarding tons of waste for larger projects, then we recommend our 8m3, 12m3, and 15m3 bins.

The information we published on our website and our skip bin ordering system features size and measurement guidelines on the size of waste a particular bin can hold. You can also talk to our dependable customer service assistants by calling 1300 416 714 to learn which skip is ideal for your task.

You can pay for your skip hire in cash, cheque, or debit card. Dolphin Skips also accepts credit cards. We also accept direct bank transfers.  Here are the details for those who wish to use bank transfers:

The typical hire period for our skips is seven days. If you want your skip picked up earlier then be sure to book the pickup schedule forty-eight hours before the end of the hire period.

Absolutely! But you need to give us a heads-up first. Give our friendly Dolphin Skips team a call at 1300 416 714 to extend your bin hire period and check for corresponding prices for the extension.

Please give us at least 24-hour advance notice for hiring our skip bins. But, if we have available skip bins sitting in our headquarters, we may be able to send one to your location if you book before 9 in the morning.

Customers are allowed to fill the skips up to the top rail. It’s important to remember not to go beyond this as loading the bin well above the top rail can be a safety hazard to other motorists. If we see that the bin is overloaded, we will have to request you to remove the waste until we see that it’s safer to transport. Please note that we will impose a further callout charge if our team is unable to collect or change the bin due to overloading on your part.

No. Asbestos is one of the materials and construction waste that customers cannot and should not place in a skip bin. Waste that contains asbestos is toxic and should only be disposed of by a certified asbestos disposal service provider.

If we find waste containing asbestos in the skip bin during collection, please note that we will not be able to collect and transport it until you remove all the waste. You will also shoulder the cost of skip clean-up, transport, and decontamination. We will require you to pay the cost immediately.

If you’re planning to throw away any waste containing this hazardous material, please contact a certified collection service that specialises in asbestos removal.

Here are the other items we prohibit customers from loading into our skip bins.

  • Any type of food waste
  • Batteries
  • Fire extinguishers
  • All types of chemicals
  • Gas cylinders
  • Plaster or web cement
  • Tyres
  • Paints and thinners
  • Oil and fuel

You can place the skip on a footpath as long as it doesn’t block your or your neighbour’s access to the road or any part of your/their property. Coordinate with your neighbour and/or secure a permit before putting a skip bin in a certain place to avoid disputes and fines. Please consult your local Council for more information.

Please refrain from moving the skip bin after the Dolphin Skips team have delivered it and placed it in the right location. We will do our best to meet your placement request. However, our truck driver will determine whether the requested location limits our access to the bin or if there’s a safety issue.

Keep in mind that moving the skip bin to a different location can damage your vehicle or any other property. Our skip bin might also get damaged and it can be difficult for our truck driver to retrieve the bin when it’s time to collect it.

We will not be held responsible for any damages caused by customers repositioning the skip bin. Give us a call if you want to have a skip bin repositioned to a better location. Note: Repositioning charges will apply.

We recommend our smaller skip bins which range from 3m3 to 6m3 for residential cleanups. If you’re disposing of large waste, such as a large sectional or a refrigerator, then check out our larger skip bins.
